Belle

Original 8x8 in painting

This original 8x8 inch oil painting is part of my "Heirloom Peony" collection of expressive floral pieces representing the joy of the spring season. Using expressive brush strokes, and creamy paint, I blend colors on the canvas or wood panel to create a delicate painterly interpretation of the blooms. I use walnut oil mixed into my paint to create fluid petal brush strokes. I grow several peonies in my garden and this particular variety called 'Karl Rosenfield' is a deep fuchsia color that seems to take on slightly different shades throughout the day in the changing sunlight.
